We are always so eager to move on, learn more, and get more (I know I do!). However, every now and then, we need to pause and ask the most important question:
WHAT AM I DOING WITH WHAT I KNOW NOW?
Success is not tied to how much we know but what we do with what we know. The word of God is full of power and the illumination of the Holy Spirit makes the power available to us. It is not enough to be excited about the word of God – we need to walk in the truth of that word and let it produce fruit in our lives.
Jesus told a parable of a sower who sowed seeds on different grounds. The seeds that fell by the roadside, rocky ground and thorns did not survive. However, the seeds that fell on good soil survived and produced a harvest.
“As for what was sown on good soil, this is he who hears the Word and grasps and comprehends it; he indeed bears fruit and yields in one case a hundred times as much as was sown, in another sixty times as much, and in another thirty.” Mathew 13: 23
But why was the harvest different on the good soil? Why did some produce a thirty fold harvest, some a sixty fold and some a hundred-fold harvest on the same soil? -The difference was the attention they paid to the word of God.
“And He said to them, be careful what you are hearing. The measure [of thought and study] you give [to the truth you hear] will be the measure [of virtue and knowledge] that comes back to you—and more [besides] will be given to you who hear.” Mark 4:24
Are you paying enough attention to the word of God?
The devil does not really care how much we know but he is afraid when we give careful thought to the word of God because he knows that the word will produce fruit in our lives.
SELAH
The term Selah is translated as ‘pause and calmly think of that’. The word prompts the reader to ponder before moving on. We need to have a Selah-habit when studying the bible.
The key to living a victorious life is to continually meditate on the word of God. Prayerful meditation causes the word to take root in our hearts and produce a harvest.
“Happy (blessed, fortunate, enviable) is the man who finds skillful and godly Wisdom, and the man who gets understanding [drawing it forth from God’s Word and life’s experiences],” Proverbs 3:13
Be intentional about spending quality time mediating on the word of God. Walk in the truth that you know and be a proof producer.
