Every decision you make today directly affects your future.
We all have dreams of a perfect future when life is perfect, when we no longer have to deal with our current challenges. A time when every need is met and every desire fulfilled. However, in living out today, it is easy to forget that we are painting the portrait of tomorrow with every decision that we make.
The future is like a house that is being built. The foundation has been completed through the finished work of Jesus. However, the structure needs to be erected, and we all have the choice to follow the blueprint of the architect (God) or digress. Every positive decision or action is a brick that is added to the house and every negative decision or action is a brick that is removed from the house.
CHOICES
Each choice you make today will either take you closer or farther from destiny.
Saul was the first king of Israel. He was appointed by God and anointed to save the people of Israel. However, at a point, he felt compelled by the people to break the commandment of God by offering burnt sacrifice that the priest was supposed to offer. He also kept the war loot instead of destroying everything as the Lord commanded. Saul’s wrong choices ended his kingdom and God rejected him as king.
Negative choices are a heavy baggage on the journey to destiny. Where are your choices leading you?
RESPONSE
Your response to God and your willingness to obey directly impact your momentum to destiny.
Mary, a young virgin engaged to be married was visited by an angel with a message that she would have a son. Her first reaction to the angelic visitation was fear, and then confusion – how will that happen? The angel said she would be overshadowed by the Holy Spirit – whatever that meant – her response was, “Let it be to me according to your word!” –Wow! She did not rationalize, fear the consequences, or ask for proof – she simply yielded her will to God. Thus she stepped into her divine destiny seamlessly.
What is your response to God? Are you limiting God to your experiences?
Are you yielding to man’s modification of God’s instructions? Do you believe that God will do what He says He will do?
RELATIONSHIPS
Every relationship in your life is pulling you in a direction – either towards your God-given destiny or away from it
Ruth was a Moabite who married an Israelite. Her husband died very young and she had no child. She decided to stay and take care of Naomi- her mother-in-law. Ruth relocated to Israel with Naomi and worked hard at faithfully taking care of her. The relationship with Naomi was the bridge that connected her to destiny and landed her in the genealogy of Jesus! Without her sacrificial relationship with Naomi, she would have missed her destiny.
While Ruth stepped into her destiny through her relationship with Naomi; Samson forfeited his destiny because of his relationship with Delilah.
Samson was consecrated to God before he was born. He was raised as a Nazarene set apart for God. He became a strong man and was a judge in Israel. However, he had a passion for Philistine women. He fell in love with a woman named Delilah who was an expert in emotional blackmail. She tricked Samson into disclosing the secret of his power and betrayed his love for 1100 pieces of silver.
The relationship with Delilah ended Samson’s destiny abruptly, cost him his eyes and ultimately his life.
Who are you in a relationship with? What direction is that relationship pulling you? Is the relationship reinforcing your strengths or fueling your weaknesses?
Be intentional about your relationships. They could make you or break you.
Are your choices, response and relationships providing the impetus necessary to step into your destiny or are they slowing you down?
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.

hi Ibidun.you have been a great inspiration.look forward to reading your blogs but been having difficulty making comments.Sending this with a system at work and hope its goes. What pushes our choice is our faith and we should remember every decision we make has consequences and determine the next course our lives we take.
Thank you very much Funmi
You are right! Each decision has consequences that directly influence the course of our lives!
In the busyness of everyday life, it is so easy to skimp on considering the consequences of daily decisions. Even if we decide to be intentional about every action and think through every consequence – it’s still not enough.
There are so many things that we do not know. We really need the Holy Spirit to guide every decision. Then we can have the confident assurance that all things are working together for our good. The wisdom of God provides the momentum for destiny.
