Soaring: The Eagle Way

Have you ever seen a soaring Eagle – in real life or in a movie? It’s beautiful to behold and the Eagle makes it look so easy to soar! The effortless grace of the Eagle in the sky typifies the majesty of purpose. It provides the picture of what it looks like when a creation of God finds full expression. When we find our place and operate in our grace, it is a beautiful sight to behold! When we master our craft and operate in excellence, we soar like the Eagle.

The unique ability of the Eagle to soar and ride the winds has profound lessons encoded by God for our learning. The Eagle has long, broad, and extremely powerful wings that enable her to do unprecedented feats in the sky. Yet, you will not see an Eagle flapping its wings vigorously in the sky, trying to soar. Eagles have mastered the art of gliding and riding on the wind at high altitudes, called soaring. A soaring Eagle is at the peak of its potential and at rest, allowing the wind to do the work.

TRAVEL LIGHT

Eagles travel light, you will not see an Eagle soaring with baggage, food, or cherished possessions. To operate in excellence, we need to travel light, physically, mentally, and spiritually. We need to learn to trust God and cast our cares on Him. Worrying is an indication that we are flapping instead of soaring.

Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.

I Peter 5:7

RELY ON GOD

Flapping represents self-effort and soaring typifies total dependence on God. We were not created to make things happen by ourselves. We were created to trust God who has the masterplan for help to navigate life.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11

The journey to becoming the best of who God created you to be is a solo sport. Eagles do not soar in flocks.  While it is great to have the approval of people, only the approval of God counts.

Keep your eyes on God and let Him lead you to your destination. Soar!
