We are eight days into the new year and this is a good time to check the starting trajectory for this year. What are you going to do with 2019?
There have been lots of talk about goals, resolutions, and lofty targets for the new year. The problem is that most times, by the end of January, most of the lofty plans fizzle, things become fuzzy , or default to ‘business as usual’ (aka normal). Don’t let that happen to you – take charge of your year!
This year, instead of living by a new year resolution, I am determined to grow like a seed – a little all the time.
A seed has all that is required to become a plant encoded within its shell. When the seed is planted, there is great excitement and expectation. Day after day, the promise of a plant is nurtured. However, it seems the seed is slow in delivering on the promise to produce hearty leaves and luscious fruits. The seed seems to be in no hurry.
Unknown to the hasty heart, the magic happens each day as the seed grows a little all the time. When it looks like nothing is happening, the seed is growing. A little each day, the seed grows. When the leaves and flowers emerge, the seed keeps growing. When the first set of fruits are produced, the seed keeps growing. Season after season, the seed keeps growing. The seed never stops growing. A little all the time.
This year, I will be intentional and grow a little all the time. I am determined to walk in the light that I have each day and maximize what God has placed in my hands. I am going to work with what I have and maximize it, making the most of each day. I will achieve daily goals and make each day a masterpiece.
Then tomorrow when I have more light, I will walk in all of it. When I have more opportunities, I will maximize all of it. But I am not going to wait till tomorrow to grow and live my best life. I will do that today. I will focus on discovering the depths that God has placed in me today and unearth the treasures.
You could do the same – Each day this year, you can do something that will take you closer to your dreams. Do not underestimate the power of consistency. Keep growing like a seed – a little all the time. One day, you will look back and see how much progress you have made.
Do something each day to keep your dreams alive.
Make 2019 the year that you execute all that God has placed in your heart – a little all the time.
